Revival

by Robin Mark

D
I hear the voice of one calling,
           Dmaj7
I hear the voice of one calling,
   G D
prepare ye, prepare ye the way of the Lord.

D
I hear the voice of one calling,
           Dmaj7
I hear the voice of one calling,
   G D
prepare ye, prepare ye the way of the Lord.

             G
    D
And make His paths straight, make His paths straight in
the wilderness
             G D
And let your light shine, let your light shine in the
darkness
             G D
And let your rain fall, let your rain fall in the desert.

D
I hear the voice of one calling,
           Dmaj7
I hear the voice of one calling,
   G D
prepare ye, prepare ye the way of the Lord.

(Pick up tempo, add soft drums & bass, maybe VERY soft
guitar,
gradually build up to chorus)

D
 / / / / / / / / / / / / (as directed)

D G A
Sure as gold is precious and the honey sweet,
       D G D
so You love this city and you love these streets.
			       G A
Ev'ry child out playing by its own front door,
      D G D
ev'ry baby laying on the bedroom floor.
			        G A
Ev'ry dreamer dreaming in their dead-end job,
      D G D
ev'ry driver driving through the rush-hour mob.
			        G A
I feel it in my spirit, feel it in my bones,
             D G D
You're gonna send revival, bring 'em all back home.

(Chorus)
D G A D
I can hear that thunder in the distance,
       G A Bm
like a train on the edge of the town,
      G A Bm
I can feel the brooding of Your Spirit,
G A Bm G A D
lay your burdens down, lay your burdens down.

(verse 2)
D G A
From the preacher preaching when the well is dry,
       D G D
to the lost soul reaching for a higher high.
                                       G A
From the young man working through his hopes and fears
       D G D
to the widow walking through the vale of tears.
			  G A
Ev'ry man and woman ev'ry old and young,
      D G D
ev'ry father's daughter, ev'ry mother's son.
			        G A
I feel it in my spirit, feel it in my bones,
             D G D
You're gonna send revival, bring 'em all back home.

Repeat chorus

D Bm G D
Revive us, revive us, revive us with Your fire.
D Bm G D
Revive us, revive us, revive us with Your fire.

The verses in this song are irregular, rhythmically
speaking. Each
line has a 2/4 measure before the last word that gives
the line a
sort of "rushed" feeling. Hence, the first line of
verse 1 counts
out like this:

(4) 1 2 3 4 1 2 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 etc.
Sure as gold is precious and the honey sweet

The chorus and the "revive us" section are all in
straight 4/4.

The intro below is very freeform, with nothing but
sustained keyboard
in background. On the album, he has a flute doing some
nifty things
between sets of lines, but it's all very subdued and
focused on the
words.
